Michael Monterio has always been the kind of friend who offers a helping hand to anyone in need. Recently, he faced a devastating setback when he was mugged while getting change for a friend's deli on Grand River. The attackers left him with a broken leg, a fractured hip, and several missing teeth.

Michael has been without a permanent home over the past 2 years and has been living with us while working towards getting back on his feet, and this traumatic event has made his situation even more challenging. He had just started a full-time job downtown at Parlay, after ending his seasonal job with Comerica Park and now, with his injuries, he faces a long road to recovery, and months out of work.

The funds raised will go directly toward Michael's medical expenses that aren't covered by insurance, dental care to replace his missing teeth, rehabilitation costs, and temporary housing while he heals. Michael has always been there for others, and now he needs our help more than ever.
