Support Meg's Fight Against Cancer

Update:
Please join me in prayer as Meg faces this next chapter.
Meg's body can't take much more.
The tests show that the cancer is continuing to advance, despite her treatments. With a heavy heart I must tell you that her doctors do not expect her to win this battle. She's being told she only has three to six months left.
She saw her palliate care doctor today. If the new medication becomes available, she may take it for a trial period. She needs to weigh the difficult side effects with her quality of life. She and Dave will make that decision together.
For now, Meg is going to focus on her loving husband and her beautiful family. Everyone reading this has been a valuable support and she will hold that gift in her heart. Thank you for your prayers, your love and your ongoing support. If you would like to help, please make a donation.

Hi, I'm Sherri and I've been friends with Meg for over thirty-eight years. I love her like a sister. Meg's been through more than any one person should have to face. If I can have just two minutes, I'll tell you about her journey.

On Valentine's Day, Meg and Dave celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. Together, they've raised four children and have welcomed nine grandchildren into the family. She's one of the sweetest ladies you'll ever know. But one thing I can tell you about Meg is that she's a vicious fighter. You see, this isn't the first time she’s fighting cancer, or her second. This is her third battle.

Meg was diagnosed with cervical cancer, discovered during her fourth pregnancy. She bravely brought her son into this world while risking her own life. She won that battle and she and her son survived. Years later, a persistent cough led to the discovery of Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. She underwent chemotherapy and became unable to continue working, due to the lasting toll it took on her body. But Meg always stayed strong in her faith. She fought that brutal battle and won.

Now, years later, she's facing colon cancer that has metastasized. She has been through two chemotherapy "cocktails". The medications weren't strong enough against the cancer, but the effects were so strong that she needed hospitalization. So, the specialists are now switching her to a third chemotherapy, Lonsurf. The pharmacy is working on "access" to this drug, because it's in limited distribution. Instead of an IV infusion, this medication is taken orally. They're being told it may cost up to $4400 for 20 tablets. We don't know how many doses will be needed, but the costs are building up.

Meg and Dave are traveling one to one-and-a-half hours, each way, for her cancer treatments and Oncology appointments. Dave is taking time away from work to bring her to her appointments, while trying to maintain the household and medical costs on their limited income. The medical expenses alone are taking a toll. In addition, their car and home are needing repairs.

I know they wouldn't want to ask for anything, but I'm asking. Please consider helping them. They're both struggling to stay strong and the continued financial burden weighs heavily. I want Meg to just focus on her well-being and her personal journey. I know she will appreciate any help you can offer.

Thank you for listening.
