Support Max and his fight with Leukemia

Donation protected
Update: One year and 5 months ago our world was turned on its side when our oldest son was diagnosed with leukemia. His journey has not been easy, but he continues to fight with joy. Active treatment is slated for 2.5-3.5 years. We are thankful for all who have supported our family through this time. History: On Thursday, April 4, 2019 Max went in for a sick child doctor's appointment because he wasn't feeling well. They did a quick blood test and told them that they needed to head straight to the hospital because he likely had leukemia. Max’s diagnosis was confirmed as b-cell ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) on Friday, April 5. Needless to say, it has been a whirlwind of emotions, lack of sleep, and uncertainty. The pediatric cancer team at Children's Hospital has taken excellent care of them and they have acted quickly to begin treatment. Max had three blood transfusions and two platelet transfusions to ready him for his first round of chemotherapy. He went under general anesthesia on Saturday to gather bone marrow and spinal fluid and also have a port placed for his treatment. Max is in excellent spirits overall. His pain has been minimal post-surgery and he is back to cracking jokes and giving mom and dad a little sass.  There is an incredible team of child life specialists at the hospital that have explained the procedures and treatment in kid-friendly terms. Max has had a lot of questions, mostly about how many pokes he will receive. They will work with John and Sung Ja to explain some of the side effects he may encounter along the way. The treatment plan will span a little longer than three years. They received a road map for his treatment for the first month which will be done primarily through outpatient care. They will be in the hospital until at least Tuesday.  With all of that being said you can begin to imagine the expenses that will, and have already, begin to roll in. Due to the outpatient care my sister and John will need to take off large amounts of time off of work to ensure both boys are cared for.  If you feel so led to give please donate here. Any amount is GREATLY appreciated.  If you have been blessed, as we have, to have John, Sung Ja, Max, and Wills in your life, then this is the perfect opportunity to reach out and support them now. In prayer, finances, or time, whatever it be let's bring it all out for them and surround them in love .  A CaringBridge page has been started for those of you that would like to follow Max's journey. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/maxdico
