Support Matias Barraza for Belize Mission Trip

Dear friends,

This year has been such an exciting year for me and I want to share it all with you.  I went on my mission trip to Ecuador in March and had an amazing experience. I got to work with Youth World and Jungle Kids for Christ doing service in Misahualli.  There, we did service projects at a school and a local farm. At the school, we dug trenches and poured cement around the school to create a wall to make sure the students didn’t wander off.  At the farm, we helped put new fencing around the fruit tree orchard as well as build a trail going down to the river so people could get there easily. On the trip, I strengthened so many friendships and made memories that will last a lifetime.  It truly was an unforgettable experience.

Currently, I am a senior at High Tech High North County in San Marcos, CA.  I continue to do well in school and just finished my college applications. At the beginning of the year, I was elected Student Body President and am also a captain on the basketball team which has been a lot of fun.  I am still heavily involved in my youth group at North Coast Church in Vista, California. I am very blessed to have been part of such a great ministry that is doing amazing things in the community. I am thankful for all the things God has been doing in my life and for the people who have been a part of this journey.

I have once again been given the opportunity to go on a mission trip with my youth group.  This time it is to Belize. We are going to Belize from April 2-8 to work with Praying Pelicans, a short-term missions organization that specializes in exposing youth, adults, and families to missions, ministry, and the world.  We are a team of 30 11th and 12th graders going to partner with a ministry already doing work in Belize to support them in any way we can. I am excited for this chance to do God’s work and bless others while building my personal relationship with God.

I would love it if you would please pray for this mission trip.  Pray for God to work through the 30 of us. Pray that we are prepared for whatever comes our way and that we are open to learning from the community.  Pray for the families in Belize, that they are receptive to learning about God and that when we go, we can exemplify what it is like to walk with God. Pray especially for the children to connect the love we show them to the love Jesus has for them.

If you will commit to praying for us, please let me know. I would love to share that news with my team.

Please also consider supporting me financially.  I need to raise $1795 by March 21st.  I recommend a gift of $50, $100 or $150, but of course, any amount is more than welcome.  Please do not feel obligated to give. However, if you do choose to support me, you may donate online at my GoFundMe page, or mail a check.  If you write a check, gifts are tax-deductible, and you can contact me for more information.

Thank you for considering supporting me through prayer and/or giving.  If you have any questions about the trip, I would be more than happy to answer them.

This trip would be impossible without the generosity of so many.  I’m excited for this new opportunity and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you when I return.

With love,
