Support Marty's fight against leukemia

How do you even start a request like this? On Sunday, March 15th, our world was rocked when we got the diagnosis that no one wants to ever hear…Leukemia. On the previous Monday, Marty went to a local clinic, looking for some relief from what he thought was an on-going sinus infection. His symptoms, along with the fact that he had not felt well in a long while, lead them to start the testing process. It was not until he was hospitalized 2 days later that a roller coaster of tests started (including Covid-19) and we finally got the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The process began in Cullman Regional but he is now at UAB where we believe their advanced technology and amazing staff will take the best care of him possible. In the midst of all this we, like everyone else, are being further challenged in a world changing by the minute due to Coronavirus. It delayed Marty moving to UAB, then he had to be tested again because they were afraid the first test was no good. Now, worst of all, none of his family or loved ones can be in the hospital with him to support or advocate for him in person as all visitation is prohibited as of 3/19. We know he is in good hands (first God’s and second UAB’s), but to know he is battling alone is heavy on our hearts and minds. Marty is the main breadwinner of our family so with him being out of work, along with the extra expenses associated with this situation, we anticipate a financial burden. Any donations we receive will be used to support his medical expenses and our family’s needs during this process. Currently the status of his medical situation is still uncertain. If he was otherwise healthy, they would do a bone marrow test and start treatment. Unfortunately, he has diminished lung function that’s source is yet to be identified, creating the necessity of being put on a ventilator. Though we do not know exactly what the future holds, we are VERY hopeful and faithful in our God’s healing power! Marty is an amazing father, dedicated husband, and loyal brother, son and friend that we know has the strength to beat this!!
