Support Mark and Michael


Mark Cabrera and Michael McDonald are two of the most selfless people I know. Mark has served as the Administrator of our church, the Center for Spiritual Living KC, for decades. He is always the first there, last to leave and spends his every waking hour caring for others. His husband, Michael McDonald, is right there as well. Constantly serving in any way he can, on top of working full time for the post office. 

A few weeks ago Mark went to the doctor about stomach pain he was having. Initially thought to be an ulcer, Marks pain increased until he was finally forced to have Michael take him to the emergency room. Over the last couple of weeks they have run a myriad of tests and the news is devastating to our community and to the lives of these two amazing humans. 

Mark has been given the diagnosis of an aggressive, advanced stage cancer. The doctors have sent Mark home where he is surrounded by his beloved pets and his husband. Michael is on FMLA so he can be by Marks side. During this challenging time the last thing these two devoted men need to is worry about is finances. While much of the medical bills will be covered by insurance they face other costs like a prescription that costs $700 per refill (and is not covered by insurance) is causing undue stress to their lives.

It is our intention to ease their burden financially so they can be together on this journey without these financial concerns. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. These two loving, giving people need our help now.
