Support Marie's Road to Recovery
Don protégé
When an animal that you hold close to your heart, is sick or in pain, who do you sprint to? Without second thought, you run to the vet clinic that has supported you and your family, year after year. You run to the team that loves your animals just as much as you do.
They’re the people you trust without hesitation. They calm your anxiety when you’re not sure what to do. They game-plan solutions when you feel like you’ve hit a dead end. They embrace the chaos with love, and embrace their patience with a level of compassion that cannot be put into words.
To me, this person is Marie. The person so many people sprint to in their time of need, is Marie. Well, the woman that so many of us have leaned on in our times of uncertainty, needs our help.
While on her way to work, the morning of Friday, June 14th, Marie was in an accident that resulted in one of the worst knee injuries you can experience- a very severe tibial plateau fracture. Immediately following the accident, she was rushed to the emergency room and was later transferred to orthopedic unit. The same day, Marie went into surgery, where external fixations were surgically added. Her second surgery has been scheduled for Monday, June 24th where they will repair the knee by inserting permanent plates and pins in her knee. The expected recovery for this is 10 weeks, with extremely strict limitations. The process is going to be long, and extremely painful.
While she was hesitant to let me launch this page, tearfully Marie did agree that this isn’t something she is going to be able to overcome, alone. With her entire family living overseas, her support is extremely limited. It’s also important to noted that while her job is giving her the time off that she needs to recover- this will 12-week period will be unpaid.
We may not be able to speed up her long road to recovery, but we can try to give her a fraction of the peace that she has offered so many of us over the years. Simply put, Marie’s recovery is not going to be an easy one. It’s going to be physically painful, mentally challenging, time intensive and extremely expensive. Outside of having to navigate and relearn simple daily tasks, she is facing the overwhelming financial burden that unfortunately comes with any major injury. If you’re in a position to do so, please consider donating. Any amount would be beyond appreciated, and would aid in this ongoing recovery.
Marie wanted me to share that she loves all of you, and will be working hard to come out on the other side, better than ever. Her gratitude and love is beyond what the English language can offer ♥️
