Hello family members, friends, well-wishers, and acquaintances in America and the Philippines. It is with a sorrowful heart that I am breaking the news that a loving mother, sister, friend, family member, co-worker, and overall caring individual, has lost her fight against COVID-19 on April 4, 2020 at 7 o’clock in the evening at Montefiore Medical Center’s Moses Division. Maria Corazon Lamarroza Centron has passed, and is now reunited with her parents in heaven.

Maria Corazon Lamarroza Centron was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines in February, 1962. She was the second child of seven siblings. She was a loving sister and daughter. She had many dreams, some of which were to travel the world, donate to charities, participate in mission works, have a family, and to become a respectable nurse. As she grew up, she worked hard to achieve her dreams. She was a rebel with a big heart. Her teenage years were full of adventure with her “barkadas” along with her family, both of which she deeply treasured. After her hard work, Maria earned her nursing degree and passed her boards in September 1985. She built her career for many years as a maternity nurse in Capitol Medical Center. She built her family with her current ex-husband, she had three children: Andre, Aubre, and Aaron. They stayed and collected happy memories for many years until the family decided to migrate to America in order to further her dreams, and to open the gates for more opportunities, not only for herself, but for her children in October 2006.

Maria worked assiduously, as a divorced single mother in a new country, by building a good home environment for her children in the Bronx, and at the same time by working in her career, as a Patient Care Tech in the Operating Room at Jacobi Medical Center. She worked diligently for her family for 14 years. She loved working with her co-workers, whom she grew to call friends, during her 40-hour work week. The workload was physically and mentally draining, but Maria persisted, even with asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. And at the end of the day, she was proud of her labor, to be able to serve and help her coworkers and patients on a daily basis. However, Maria was not one to rest or sit idly by. Upon arriving home, she cooks for her children without missing a beat. Maria was a loving mother, always making sure that her children were fed and full, regardless of how tired she was from work. Food was very important in Maria’s life philosophy, and hunger was unacceptable. Anyone who has had the pleasure of being invited into her home, can attest to the fact that they would be fed, and would always leave her abode with a full belly. She would frequently cook Filipino food along with her famous desserts for her loved ones. It made her happy to be able to show her love for others by cooking.
In conclusion, Maria Corazon Centron was a person who lost her life too soon. She will truly be missed. Maria left behind her three children. They are heartbroken and will forever miss a mother who they never expected to lose so early. Maria was taken too soon, she will miss her children’s weddings, being able to hold her first grandchild, her children's graduations, along with many more of her children’s milestones. Mari, like other victims of COVID-19, suffered severely due to this disease. She was in a ventilator, fighting for her life until our Father ended her suffering.

This fund is set up on behalf of the Lamarroza family, Centron Family, co-workers, friends, well-wishers, and acquaintances. Please consider donating towards hospital bills, cremation costs, children’s welfare, memorial planning, last wishes, and travel to the Philippines (her final resting place).

All donations will be handled by her daughter, Aubre Lamarroza Centron, along with disbursement when the expenses are made.

Thank you to everyone for your consideration. All donations are greatly appreciated, and prayers are fully accepted. I wish for all to stay healthy and blessed during this difficult time which our world is facing. #protectourhealthcareworkers

Sincerely,
