Meet Lazarus!

I rescued Lazarus on 12/30; I was asked by an acquaintance if I would be interested in taking in a leopard gecko they had for 6 years as they were unable to give him the time and care he needs due to some life changes.

He came to me in a 10 gallon tank without any light at all, no substrate, just a filthy mat with mold growing up the sides of the tank. He was being eaten by the mealworms he had be given to eat…. Except he could not see to hunt due to numerous layers of stuck shed covering his eyes and face (and all feet and his entire tail) and he has severe MBD from lack of nutrients from light and food and cannot get around well. He’s emaciated and has some wounds on his feet and is missing toes/toe tips from the stuck shed.

I’ve made huge improvements for him already- the stuck shed has been removed, proper heat, hides and lighting have been provided as well as a 25 gallon front opening tank. He will be seeing the vet at 5:00pm today to get a better idea of his condition and what he needs to recover.

I am not a wealthy person, but I do have the ability to cover his Vet care. With that being said, I welcome any help towards his recovery. I feel as though I am doing a good deed and while I can foot the bill, I don’t have a ton of disposable income and it would be amazing if I had help giving this guy a new start.
