Hello comrades, I am David Yambio and I currently live in Italy, some of you already know me and some you don't. Feel free to get in touch with me but here is a call to support my brother whom I haven't seen since 2016 due to the civil war in South Sudan. Sometimes growing up between flying bullets & endless displacement change our dreams for a better adaptation to our society.
Despite a traumatic childhood he landed at a law school in Uganda at the International University of East Africa, but he has difficulties paying his fees.
His story and experiences are no different from thousands of children robbed of their childhood, homes and families. But his aspirations to study law and become a lawyer is something inspiring and in my current state in life,I cannot cover his tuition fees. Will you support his journey?

Introduction:
I am Sunday Lawrence and currently in my second year of studying Bachelor of Laws in the 4th semester out of 8 at the International University of East Africa in Kampala , Uganda, located at Plot No.1112/1121, Kansanga-Nabutiti, Ggaba Road, P.O. Box 35502 Kampala (U).
Unfortunately, I am stranded and starving in the struggle, enduring different sorts of challenges as my sponsor is facing a financial crisis due to the war in Sudan , which is affecting him because his wife, children, and brothers are in Sudan and in a state of war. He has 11 people still in Sudan who depend on him for everything. The repercussions of the war have restrained him from paying my tuition fees, making it difficult for me to achieve my dreams. I do not wish to give up on my dream and, for this reason, I take this opportunity to call upon every individual, NGOs, private institutions, and other relevant authorities to contribute any amount for me to continue pursuing my academic studies and enable me to attain my law degree.

Required budget:
  • Tuition fees = $850 per semester.
  • Functional fees = $194 per semester.
  • Medical Insurance = $150 per year.
  • Student pass & processing fee = $120 per year
  • Total amount for a semester is $1,314.
  • G-total amount for the remaining four semesters is $5,256

I would greatly appreciate your contribution to support my dreams and make them come true.

My story and my aspirations:

My name is Sunday Lawrence Oliver Yasona. My parents are originally South Sudanese, and they fled Sudan to live in the Central African Republic as a result of the Sudanese 2nd civil war . I was born in the Central African Republic in 1998 in a refugee camp . In 2005 after the CPA , my family and I returned to Sudan. We lived in Ezo , an administrative area in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan, located at the border of the Central African Republic and DRC. In 2008, I started school. In 2009, the war crisis of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) led by Joseph Kony reached our area, and my brother David and several pupils were abducted , tortured, raped, murdered, and experienced aggregated inhuman treatment. In late 2009, my family and I were relocated from the war zone to Nzara County by the Ugandan People's Defense Force (UPDF). In Nzara, we lived under heavy financial crisis, and my parents couldn't pay my school fees. I started struggling to pay my school fees in 2010.

In 2011, after South Sudan gained its independence and peace was restored, my family returned to Ezo, and I was left in Nzara to continue my schooling. As a young boy, I was very traumatized about living apart from my family, whom I loved so much, but I had no option because all schools were closed in the county.

The South Sudanese civil war of 2013 affected most students, forcing them to drop out of school, but I decided not to give up. In 2014, my family fled to Congo, leaving me amidst flying bullets and child soldier conscription. In 2016, after much struggle, I managed to complete my primary studies in Zereda Nursery and Primary School in Nzara County. I then decided to seek better quality secondary education in the state capital of Yambio. In 2017, I enrolled in high school at Bishop Abangite College of Science and Technology. The following year, I could no longer afford the fees, which led me to change to Alliance High School, where there were few teachers to cover all the subjects. I worked as a construction worker to pay my school fees and earn a living, but each was at the cost of exploitation and trauma.

In 2020, after completing high school, I moved to Juba to process my certifications and inquire about scholarships to further my studies. In Juba, there were several active universities, but financial issues prevented me from joining. Fortunately, I met someone who decided to sponsor my university studies after hearing my story and ambitions. In January 2022, he sent me to Kampala, Uganda, to start my academic studies at the Law faculty at the International University of East Africa.

I chose law as the best course to help my nation and the world in the following ways:

  • To enact good laws for the people of South Sudan, which will be interpreted and translated into local languages for effective understanding and binding force.
  • To establish the recognition of all sorts of fundamental human rights in the country, and educate the people to recognize one another as human beings, without any form of inequality, inhumanity, discrimination based on colors, religions, gender, or racism. Furthermore, to educate the entire nation on other fundamental human rights principles in line with international laws and the ability to advocate on behalf of those deprived of their natural and fundamental human rights.
  • To establish the rule of law in the country by educating the youth on the importance of democracy.
  • To build sustainable peace in the country through the operation and implementation of good laws, ensuring justice for all. Those who commit acts of violence, war crimes, child abduction, rape, murder, inhumanity, discrimination, racism, and other violations of human rights will be held accountable.
  • To eradicate corruption through the operation of good laws and a justice system that restrains and restricts individuals from falling victim to corruption.
  • To promote and enforce women's and children's rights and recognize the rights of refugees.
  • To sponsor children's education and advocate for free education for all children in the country, regardless of their status.

I believe that through the operation of good laws and the justice system, the law has the power to transform my nation into a better place for all, where everyone is free and recognized with dignity.

Here are a few picture of me at school and at my current University.
