Support Kuna Yala!

Please support Ailigandi! This is a very small island community of fishermen, 1,700 souls, located in the Kuna Yala (San Blas) archipelago in Panama. We are in contact with the "Saila" (community chief), called Aaron, in the picture below.

The community is very isolated: 80 nautical miles (140 kms) from Carti, the main port serving the archipelago. Carti itself is 3 hours' drive from Panama City, driving over a road in bad conditions.

This very poor community is badly affected by the COVID outbreak: 108 are infected, 31 have been evacuated to Panama city already, via the Achutupu airport in the San Blas archipelago. Five are dead. All the infected are laying on the grass, the local hospital does not even have beds or electricity (see pictures). The island has a small diesel generator that only works for a few hours a day.

The community is in dire need of basic food commodities, desinfectant, fumigation equipment, chlorine for potable water. 

We will personally buy the food for the 1,700 people in "Distribuidora I.Samuel" located in Chepo, 40 kms from Panama City, transport it to Carti, the port of the San Blas Islands. The community of Ailigandi will send a boat to collect it. The Community leaders will be responsible to organize and supervise the distribution to all community members.
