Support Katrina to fight cancer

The strong, reliant and caring Katrina has been diagnosed with breast cancer on 29 Novemberafter 2 normal ultrasounds. 

Katrina 6 months ago felt a couple of lumps in her right breast and went to her local Doctor. She had an ultra sound and the lumps were identified as fibroademonas. No action was taken. Followingher gut instinct and still having pain in her right breast 6 months on Katrina followed up with another appointment with her doctor and a visit to the Wesley Breast Clinic.

On Mon 26 November Katrina met with a breast specialist who had advised that the pain was likely due to an abscess in her breast.   Given the clinical results it was highly unlikely to be anything other than an infection.  

After an ultrasound and mammogram Katrina’s appointment turned from being a regular check upto totally life changing. The Doctor returned to her surgery to tell Katrina that she most likely had breast cancer and would require 2 cell tests and 2 biopsies.  

Everyone including the Doctor was in shock as this was considered very rare.  

From here Katrina has been poked and probed to get numerous additional biopsies, blood tests, CT and PET Scans.  

The outcome is as follows:
• The cancer is a HER2 type which is a veryaggressive cancer but very treatable.
• It is contained in 3 lumps, one of which is 3.2cm and one lymph node
• Katrina will require 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by a right mastectomy, removal of lymph nodes and radiation.

Katrina has had to immediately put work on hold for at least 6 months while undergoing treatment.

Katrina has 3 beautiful children, Bethany, Finlay and Chloe and a loving husband Jay who has continued to work through this time. Their childrenattend a wonderful little school in Brighton whereby Chloe her youngest will begin prep in 2019.

Katrina in the past year set a Go Fund Me page for a friend with a son treating cancer. She is a loving, loyal and fun woman with a very difficult battle ahead of her.  

The medical bills continue to come in and the expenses of family and living don’t stop.

The funds raised will be used to help pay the medical bills to heal Katrina and also assist in easing the financial burden and stress at this very difficult time.

When Katrina’s treatment journey concludes she is very passionate about advocating for greater awareness of breast cancer for women under 40s. She wants to change the way breast cancer is approached in younger females who aren't your typical breast cancer patients. She doesn’t want anyone else to experience the pain that she has had to go on this journey.
