Hi my name is Kaity Shimohara! I am a 14 year old competitive karate athlete from California. I've been doing karate since I was 4 years old and recently made it on the USA Karate Junior team. At this years Nationals, I won a silver in individual elite kata and a gold in elite team kata. This means that I will be attending Argentina and Spain to compete and represent the USA in the Pan Am 14-15 female kata and Worlds 14-17 female team kata divisions! Karate has made such a huge impact on my life both physically and mentally. I have learned that success comes from persevering through the tough times and doing what others aren't willing to do. Although the success feels great, the amazing journey I took with my team was the true win. These life lessons were taught to me by my incredible Senseis and Senpais who have motivated me day after day. I'd like to thank not only my parents, family, and friends but also my grandparents and teammates parents who we carpool with to make sure we can all always make it to training. Without the combined efforts of everyone, I would not have been successful in reaching my goal. Making the USA Karate Junior team is one of my biggest goals yet and I am training everyday to reach even  bigger ones.  Thank you for all your support!
