Support Joanne's Care & Recovery

Donation protected
On November 2nd, my mom Joanne was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon cancer. Joanne has been sick for the past 2 years and without insurance, the loss of her job and COVID-19 hitting, it made it nearly impossible for her to get the correct diagnosis, help and proper care she needed.

After several misdiagnoses, wrong/unhelpful medications and a few doctors later, we learned that a benign polyp that was found 10 years ago, slowly turned malignant over the years. Joanne was also diagnosed with an auto immune disease, osteoarthritis of the spine, and degenerative disc disease which causes her pain most nights.

Joanne is going into surgery on December 4th to hopefully remove the cancer. She will endure a 3-4 hour robotic procedure that will aid in the removal of the cancer, the entire right side of her colon, her appendix and any surrounding lymph nodes. Joanne will remain in the hospital (without visitors unfortunately due to COVID) for 5-7 days and will be recovering at home for the next 6-8 weeks and will also require chemotherapy to remove any remaining cancer that still lingers in her body. Once we get the results from pathology (weeks after her surgery) regarding her lymph nodes, we’ll have a better understanding of her chemo treatment.

We are asking for donations to help support Joanne throughout her care and recovery. This fund will be used to offset Joanne’s loss of income in the months ahead while she’s on bedrest and with any existing/future medical expenses that is not covered by her insurance.

Joanne has spent the last 12 years working as a caregiver/companion for several elderly patients. It started when she had to move into her mothers house, to care for her while she had emphysema and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), which progressed to lung cancer and resulted in her passing away. Since then, Joanne has lived paycheck to paycheck, working through holidays, being away from her home and her cat to care for others. We are hopeful that during her time of need, we can aid her financial burden and be there for her since she needs it now.

We know times are tough right now and if you are unable help financially we understand, and if you can help, we will be eternally grateful.

We know Joanne is loved by her family, friends and her daughters friends. Please continue to keep Joanne, Frankie and their families in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate everyone’s support as we navigate through this extraordinary difficult time.

This page will be updated by her daughter Frankie, as we learn more about Joanne’s care. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, so so much.

With love & gratitude,
Frankie & Joanne <3
