Support Jenni's Journey

Anybody that knows Jenni Wenzel Schmidt understands the kind of person she is.  Jenni will do anything and give anything to help someone in need.  She never expects anything in return, it’s what she does and who she is.  She has touched so many lives with her selflessness and desire to make the lives of the people she encounters better.

Now Jenni and her husband Joe need your help.  On April 15,2016 Jenni was diagnosed with vulvar cancer.  Jenni endured months of radiation, chemotherapy at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay and then multiple surgeries at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee to remove the cancer.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of cancer for Jenni.  Six months later, at a follow up visit at Froedtert, Jenni and Joe were given the devastating news that she had more cancer, and this time it was much more aggressive than her last battle.  Treatment options at Froedtert were limited since she had already undergone radiation and chemotherapy in her first battle with cancer, so newer, less common treatments are now her best chance to once again, beat cancer.

Jenni has been referred to Avera Cancer Institute Center for Precision Oncology in Sioux Falls, SD.  Targeted Cancer Treatment located in Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls offers personalized cancer therapies to patients, based on their individual genomic profile.  Genomics at Avera is a complex science that involves multiple experts locally and across the nation and world.  For patients, it’s a new glimmer of hope that begins with a blood test and tumor biopsy and ends with a recommendation for the best possible ways to treat their particular type of tumor.

As you can imagine, this type of treatment is expensive and requires Jenni and Joe to travel to South Dakota to see the medical staff at Avera.  The time off work and the multiple trips to Froedtert and the treatment that followed with Jenni’s first battle were costly, and now, in less than 6 months, the medical costs will begin again, and the travel costs will now be much more expensive to get to South Dakota.

How can you help?  Jenni’s friends and family have set up this page to raise funds that Jenni can use towards the already incurred medical and travel costs and those to come for this next battle.  We appreciate any donation to help to alleviate the financial stress that will go along with the stress of battling the cancer.

Jenni’s first appointment in Sioux Falls is October 17.  We hope to raise $10,000 to cover the costs for Jenni and Joe to travel from their home in Green Bay, WI to the appointment in Sioux Falls, SD and to offset some of the medical costs that will ultimately result from the tests that have been run and the costs incurred for the initial appointment.

Please contribute to give back to a woman that has been so giving herself throughout her lifetime.  Any amount that you can donate will help ease the financial burden that they will face at a time Jenni should just be concentrating on her health.

As Jenni's sister-in-law, I have set up this page, however Jenni is the named beneficiary for this account and the funds will be going directly to her to cover the expenses noted above.
