Salida - Help Jake's Recovery

Many of you probably know Kim & Genene Phillips, who own Salida Greenhouse. Their son, Jake, was recently assaulted and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Jake has a long, difficult road ahead of him for recovery, and Kim and Genene will be tag teaming trips to Fort Collins until Jake is through rehabilitation from his injury.

Jake was raised in Salida, graduated from Salida High School, and is a senior at CSU on track to graduate with three degrees: one in hospitality management, one in Spanish, and one in business. It's not unusual to hear about students with jobs on campus, but Jake has worked his way to a management position where he oversees the campus food services, and has already secured a job with the Marriott upon graduation.

Jake has always been a hard worker, and has spent his summers in Salida helping his parents at the greenhouse and running his own lawn care business. I'm sure he has the grit to see this injury through.

Kim and Genene would never say it themselves, but they are two of the most generous people I know - from helping our neighbors here in town to rallying donations and driving them to those in need after the recent storms in the south - all while gracefully handling issues of their own. When Kim and Genene help someone, they go all out and find so much joy in it. I would love to see our community come alongside this family, and am asking that you donate whatever you're able to, to help them through Jake's recovery.
