Support Jackson's Recovery from Rare Injury

**May 12 Update from the Family**
“Our family has been absolutely blown away by the support we've received, each of you a true blessing. We will forever be grateful for everyone who is following and supporting Jackson's journey and pray that the way you've blessed us returns to you ten-fold. There is now continued need for occupational, physical and speech therapy. This is only the beginning of a very long journey and your support is what is going to get us through. He will still need round the clock care at home and will become our full time job until the tracheostomy is removed. Trying to find a positive each day.”

Our cousin, Jackson, suffered a rare traumatic injury during a lacrosse game after getting hit in the throat by a ball as it was being shot at goal (they range 70-90+mph). A "quick check" in the ER quickly turned into a life changing surgery.

He suffered a displaced fracture to the thyroid cartilage and fractured cricoid bone. Thankfully his airway was intact. He had to undergo emergency surgery to plate and screw his (still developing) cartilage and as a result will have a tracheostomy (breathing tube that comes out of his neck) in order to breathe for an undetermined number of weeks.

At this point, their stay in the hospital is a week minimum.
This injury is rare, with 13 being recorded and the surgeon has only done something like this 3 times.

All to say, they have no real guidelines or "what to expect" but are praying for miracles. The hope is he can make sound/talk in a week.

Whether he returns to school is not known and he cannot play sports for a year (as of now). Those who know him understand what this means to him.

The family does not have traditional health insurance and being self-employed allows them to stay with him at the hospital, thank God, but also brings other challenges.

This fund is set up on behalf of Laraine (Jackson’s mother) while they remain steadfast by his side during this long recovery. All money raised will go directly towards paying medical bills for Jackson’s care and stay at the hospital.
Please pray for their only boy and we thank you for the love and support.
