The back story:

Jack Piper is an incredible, full of life, 18-year-old— to know him is to love him. Just a few weeks ago, after taking a hard hit during a hockey game, Jack wasn’t feeling well. Chris and Ryan took him to the ER, and what started as a precautionary x-ray, quickly turned into a life-changing journey. After a series of tests, Jack was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin's lymphoma. (Thankfully- highly treatable / curable- especially since caught early.) The news was a complete shock, and the Piper family has been in and out of doctors appointments navigating the next steps since then. Right now the family is meeting with docs at St Luke's and MSK to figure out the treatment plan which will likely include several rounds of chemo followed by more scans and fine tuning the rest of treatment from there. One of the hardest parts for Jack is being sidelined from the sport he loves most- but he remains determined to get back on the ice during his Sr year. Jack is mentally and physically preparing to give this his all!

How you can help:

Jack is surrounded by a large and loving support network, and so many people have reached out to ask how they can help. Right now, the biggest need is to help offset the medical expenses that are already beginning to add up. Because chemotherapy can impact Jack’s ability to have a family in the future, the family is also pursuing fertility preservation, which comes with its own costs, on top of treatment and other unplanned expenses.
