The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses, which is going to make it very challenging for many of them to survive. So far, owners of the Regent Cinema have been reluctant to ask the community for help, but as an outsider I have decided to ask on their behalf. Together we can help Regent Cinema be one of the survivors.
Regent Cinema opened in 1931, making it nearly 100 years old! All of the 100-year-olds I've had the privilege of meeting have needed a lot of support to stay on their feet, and this cinema is no different! With big movie studios abandoning cinemas in favour of online streaming, the cinematic landscape has never looked so dire. Local, independent cinemas have never needed cinemagoers more than they do right now, and if you live in the Manchester area, the Regent Cinema is the best place you can go.

Not only does the cinema provide a place of heritage for the community to enjoy movies, but they also offer kids showings on Saturdays to give them a taste of traditional cinema. The red seats, the choc ices, the popcorn and of course the big screen all make for more than just entertainment, they make an experience. One that cannot be felt from sofa at home nor at a multiplex.
