We are Ghaliah Conroy, Saoirse Lambkin O'Kane and Roberta Ceginskaite.

3 young Irish dance artists who have begun collaborating for our new performance piece. We studied dance together in The Netherlands and throughout these 4 years, our experience of growing up in Ireland became a topic of deep reflection. We have collaborated with each other before and this is the first time that we will bring a topic close to us back home.

This is investigative and community-immersed research where we listen to and honour the stories of women who came before us. Through interviews with women of different generations, Irish status and social class we reveal the hushed layers of experiences.

An exploration of the archetypes of Irish women in history. Understanding how this has affected them and their identity, physically, mentally and societally. What are the archetypes that Ireland has imposed on its women? How have these archetypes been carried through the generations? What do they look like today?

This piece challenges the traditional archetypes by deconstructing them to see what lies beneath the surface. By seeking out the true form that lies beneath we have the freedom to take charge of our narrative and renew our identity.

We would describe our work as rooted in physicality, theatricality and laced with evocative imagery. This piece will also work with intimate light design and props.

These funds will be used to cover travel costs, technician's pay, sound design and costumes.

This is an important topic that's close to our heart, as it is always necessary to shed light on women's experiences to gauge how far we have come or if we have moved at all.
