Support for the Broadway Fire & Steve

We've created this fundraiser in Steve Reisman's name and honor to help those impacted by the Hill Stationary building fire on Broadway in Troy, NY on March 5, 2021. Many GoFundMe's were created for residents who lost everything, but "Help for Steve Reisman" wasn't among them. In true Steve form he wanted to make sure everyone else was okay first!
He doesn't like to be the center of attention, which made it almost impossible to find a picture of him standing in the foreground:
The past year has been one of the hardest to survive and in Steve's case the universe really did a number on him, too:
1) The restaurant hurt and he lost one of his reliable jobs at The Confectionery,
2) he had a medical emergency that left him with months of recovery,
3) he got COVID shortly after returning to his day job in carpentry,
4) and then his apartment burned down!
Can you believe it? It's too much. Through it all he showed up for others always putting their needs before his own! And, to his friends, this was typical Steve.
When asked about a GFM for the fire he refused, wanting to take care of everyone else. But, we eventually convinced him that a GFM in HIS name could help raise funds not just for him, but for everyone involved because he's so well known and loved. You've probably been served by him at The Confectionery or purchased a bottle of wine from him at 22 2nd Street Wine Co.
There are residents who met their GFM goals quickly, but others are less connected locally and could use more help to recover their basic needs and lost homes. This GFM will go towards them until everyone is taken care of.
If there are actually funds leftover maybe Steve will finally accept and replace some of his possessions, too. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who has already done so much including the first responders who battled the fire from so many departments in freezing conditions and the community who showed up when it was needed most!
