Hello to all whom know and love this amazing family. As you know Abby is sick and her illness is for an undetermined amount of time. Putting together this GoFundMe is to help support her parents being at her bedside as well as whatever sweet Abby needs. Below are words from Sue today: 01/08/2017I just want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support in this very difficult time. I haven't been able to respond to everyone but I've read everyone's messages and am so thankful and blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. Abigail is lucky to have so many people praying for her, please continue. I know many of you are wondering what happened and to be honest, no one really is sure. What we do know is that she was diagnosed with RSV at her pediatricians office on Wednesday. By Saturday she was showing little improvement and by nighttime, seemed to be having difficulty breathing. I took her to the ER and she was diagnosed with multi focal pneumonia and a pleural effusion. We transferred to Children's with the hope of a couple days of antibiotics and then go home.
Once at children's they were able to obtain blood work and it showed that Abby was also in kidney failure, and severely anemic. At that point we were transferred to the PICU.
They believe that because of the severity of her pneumonia, Abigail has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) . They are still running tests to determine if it is from the bacteria that caused the pneumonia or another issue altogether.
They have attempted to restore Abby' s kidney function with medications which was unsuccessful.
Collaboratively, it was decided that Abby needs dialysis, which we hope to be starting today. Abby was intubated and sedated and had her dialysis line placed overnight and we are hopeful that this will be successful and give her body the chance to heal.
She's very sick right and we are so grateful for everyone's positive thoughts and prayers.
Please continue praying for our beautiful, sassy Abigail!
This family has been there for many of us in our time of need and without any hesitation. They have personally touched my life on so many levels and I am sure if your reading this you feel the same. As you all know Sue and her mother Eileen both work at Civista. Another option could be the donation of paid time off to assist in lost hours for Sue. My hope is for us all to come together to support this wonderful family! Please feel free to share this page with family and friends. Thank you in advance for your time and effort!
