Support For Shellie Schewe

On November 21, 2021 Wayne and Shellie both tested positive for Covid-19On the 27th of November Wayne decided it was time to go to the hospital seeing as he was having trouble breathing and his chest hurt. His symptoms continued to worsen and he was eventually he was put on a ventilator. On Thursday December 9th the hospital called his wife, Shellie, and told her that she needed to get up to the hospital and call his family because they didn’t think he was going to survive the next couple hours. The entire family went up, including his children, where they were able to say their goodbyes and have a priest give him his last rights. Wayne fought and the next day he stabilizedenough to be life-flighted to Edward’s Hospital.  After monitoring him for a few days it was decided that in order to try and save his life he was going to be put on ECMOand continuous dialysis

After 21 days of being in the hospital Shellie was finally able to go to the hospital and see him. It was a hard sight and Shellie felt so helpless seeing him in that bed hooked up to so many machines that were trying to save his life. She spent every day at his bedside talking to him and praying for him.

Wayne hung in there and continued to fight until the very end, but on December 26th the hospital called Shellie and told her to get everyone to the hospital. Wayne had taken a turn for the worse overnight and it wasn’t looking good. On arrival Shellie found that Wayne had internal bleeding.  That day Wayne coded 3 times, but he continued to fight.  The next morning on December 27th Shellie and the family went back up to the hospital.  They were told there was nothing more they could do. At 2:12 Wayne left this world with his family holding his hand at his bedside.

Wayne owned his own business as a funeral director; with his loss the business closed leaving Shellie unemployed with all financial responsibility. Due to these untimely and unfortunate circumstances there was no life insurance policy in place.

We are hoping to raise money to help Shellie with the medical bills, funeral expenses and expenses for their family home.
