Support for our friend Roger Marti

My dad, Roger Marti, went to the doctor with a debilitating headache on March 26th. They found multiple masses on his brain causing him excruciating pain. The next morning, he underwent brain surgery to remove the largest mass. A couple of days and many tests later, we learned he has stage 4 lung cancer with masses on his lungs, brain, liver, spine, hips, and lymph nodes.

 We were so optimistic that the aggressive treatment plan put together would give us a few more years of happy life with dad. We learned a few days ago that the cancer is too aggressive to treat. We are now going to give dad the most comfort and joy before he leaves us for his eternal life.

 These times of uncertainty bring stress and anxiety of the unknown. So much of the future lay in the hands of our faith, luck, and insurance companies. I am setting up this fund to put my dad at ease that finances are not going to burden my mom in addition to all the other things weighing heavy in her heart right now. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you consider sharing this link with your friends and family, and to please keep dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers.

 My dad has touched many people throughout his 56 years. As I have been spending more time in Adams-Friendship it seems like everyone has a “Roger Story” they can share with me. I am not the only one who thinks the world of my dad. From buying snacks for all the kids who didn’t have snack money while chaperoning my school field trips to making a new teacher feel welcome in an unfamiliar town called Friendship, my dad’s heart is as big as his love for life.  

 I know the impulse is to pick up the phone and call mom & dad, but we are just as overwhelmed with emotion as you are. I will be reading every single message to dad and will be sharing updates as they become available.
