I've set up this gofundme to support my mum's business as much as possible during the impact that COVID-19 will have on it.
Cozy Pets is a tiny, but sustainable, business my mum has built herself in Buckinghamshire, and it recently celebrated its 9th birthday. She walks dogs and cares for all animals whilst people are at work or on holiday. Over the years I've met cats, dogs, chinchillas, geckos, chickens, guinea pigs, hamsters, horses, bearded dragons and more; it's wild and awesome, and I am beyond grateful.
I am so proud of how much work she puts into the business, and that she has become her own boss. She's such an inspiration to me, and I want to support her however I can.
Like many independent businesses, and those who are self-employed, my mum will not receive any sick pay if she is ill, nor will she be given compensation for the lack of business she will have for the coming months. As more people self-isolate, work from home and cancel holidays (as they should!), the less work my mum will have.
Currently, the government propose no plans to support small businesses and those who are self-employed (other than alleviating RPI tax, which does not apply here), and so I am asking, if you can, please donate anything you can so that I can support her business. Doing so will ensure she can pay for business insurance, car insurance (which the business relies upon), business supplies, as well as contribute to the wage she needs for herself.
I will be sending her a portion of my pay to her from my own employment, but I want to do everything in my power to ensure she can continue for years to come once COVID-19 is under control.
More than anything else, please support local independent businesses wherever you can- they will not survive this impact, larger businesses will.
