Support for Uncle Ed

I am raising money for my uncle Eduardo Uribe who was diagnosed with stage 4b lung cancer at the beginning of September 2018. He had been laid off from work sometime in August and fell very ill shortly after; he was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a couple of weeks of not making the progress his doctors expected more tests where run and that is when his cancer was discovered.
Ed's treatment plan began with about 10 rounds of radiation therapy for the cancer in his brain which he completed around the 21st of September. He then started chemotherapy and us currently undergoing those treatments.
As you can imagine the entire family was completely blindsided by these events and I would say we are all still processing these changes and trying to make sense of everything. Ed's immediate family is doing the very best they can managing their own lives in addition to taking care of their father and all of the logistics and business that comes along with fighting and managing stage 4 cancer.
As far as the goal for this fundraiser, it is very difficult to come up with a number. At this point we do not know what cost of treatment is going to look like. According to the National Cancer Institute, the first year mean cost per patient with insurance for lung cancer is $60,885; for brain cancer it is $115,250. As far as indirect costs, Ed has the same expenses normal people have: mortgage, utilities, phone, car payment, food etc. Of course there will be more expenses incurred by the family for travel and days off and such. For the sake of getting the ball rolling I have set the goal at $100,000. We will make any adjustments or run other campaigns as needed.
It is difficult to describe my feelings as our family begins this extremely difficult journey but I can tell you that I do not want money to weigh down on my family and that I would like to do whatever possible to help keep the emotional focus on Ed. Please help in any way you can and share this with other family and friends!
