Support for Kendra Hudman

On April 16th, my mom was in a horrible accident. She fell face first, 8 feet deep into our local waste dump pit. She severely broke her back in 2 different places, her sternum, and multiple ribs. She was life flighted that night to Utah for emergency surgery and more specialized care. Frankly, we are so lucky she is alive. But she is still in critical condition and has a very long, hard road of recovery ahead of her.

Her surgery went smoothly, but her surgeon said that she has a 90% chance of permanent paralysis from the waist down. There is a small chance her nerves will recover in several weeks, but the odds are not in her favor. This is completely devastating to us, her family, but also to her. Anyone who knows her knows that she is a very active person who goes on 10 mile bike rides, loves regular kayaking, and prides herself on being very active with all her grandchildren. She is still in the ICU and trying to overcome the many hurdles in front of her. She will likely be in Utah for several weeks.

This was a very traumatic experience for both her and my dad, both mentally and physically. The last thing we want them to worry about is how they are going to pay for everything and how they are going to make things work. My mom is also the most selfless person who has always been the one to reach out and help those around her. Now, for once, we really want to help her. Because of this accident, both my mom and dad will most likely have to take a long leave of absence from their jobs. The funds for this will help pay for their medical bills and all other things they will need to pay for for recovery and their time in Utah.
