Some of my favorite memories with Aaron Rivers are back in the day down by the train tracks, writing songs for his new band The Cups, and watching movies together like Golden Boy, J-Men Forever, Dead Alive, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart. In the early days, we’d always joke after a show, saying things like, “worst Cups show ever!” But truly, there were some epic, never-to-be-forgotten experiences at those shows. Aaron was always such a loyal and kind friend—I could depend on him for anything, even if I called him in the middle of the night.
Aaron Rivers was a true legend in our community—a die-hard punk rocker, master carpenter, and a huge presence at Make ICT. His woodworking skills touched many lives, but his greatest legacy was the love and care he showed for his mother, Kathy Rivers.
Tragically, Aaron passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, leaving Kathy without her beloved son. The loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew Aaron, and especially by his mother. While she does make a modest income through social security, as she navigates this difficult time, Kathy will need help with funeral costs, legal expenses, and the many unexpected challenges that come with such a profound loss.
Please consider supporting Kathy as she faces this new chapter. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and help honor Aaron's legacy of care and community.
