Support for Jim and Shana
Many of you know Jim and Shana from the SEO and Digital Marketing communities or from Shana’s advocacy for medicinal cannabis users and her legendary culinary skills.
As long as I’ve known Jim Hedger, he’s been passionate about helping others, building community, and sharing skills and information about the art and science of SEO. I know I’m not alone in saying I owe my career to him.
Many of you know his partner Shana has battled cancer for several years. She is fighting her fifth round against the disease and got some devastating news from her doctors late last week. Jim, who had a heart attack three years ago, has been at her side supporting her in her fight while trying to rebuild and sustain his own business.
We want to offer some respite to Jim and Shana so they’re able to spend as much time together over the next few months as possible. We want to help with the pressures of broken finances and give Jim every resource so he can take time off and focus his love and support on Shana and on his own self care. Jim has been there for all of us over the years in one way or a dozen. It’s our time to show up for him.
Some of the costs we expect for Jim per month:
Rent/Hydro/Bills: $2,500/mo
Food: $250/mo
Cleaning support: $200/mo
Transportation: $250/mo
Taxes / buffer: $300/mo
= $3,500 / month
Additional costs:
Wheelchair / uncovered medical supports: $5,000 (one time).
We aim to cover the next 6 months with this fundraiser, bringing the total to $26,000 CAD ($19,647 USD)
Jim Hedger will be the beneficiary of these funds.
To start, we're aiming to raise a fraction of this, but hope to be able to offer a full 6 months of support by the end of this campaign.
