Support For Jan and Rob

Hello Family and Friends of Jan and Rob Wright,
The story to be shared here is tragic, yet full of love; Love of God, Love of Spouses, Love of Life supported by Medical Wisdom. Back in late April, Jan was suffering from what was thought to be an ear/sinus infection. Within days this condition developed into a full infection in her brain. Jan went into a coma, and stayed there for quite some time. It was very touch and go, and Rob never left her side unless he had to. The condition came to be known as Streptococcus Pneumonia. One might think that this is typically a condition in the lungs, but this same condition can be deadly in the brain. Jan was provided the best medical care Sarasota Memorial Hospital could provide. Test after test was run to determine how to bring her out of this state. She literally went from a vibrant, strong, and hard working woman to everyone fearing this was the end of her life on Earth in a short time. Friends and family set up prayer chains and meal trains. People would hang on every word from Rob on her progress and he did his best to make reports positive.

Time marches on, and Jan and Rob's life will never be the same. She has been in and out of the hospital to rehabilitation facilities, and back again. Then a true setback happened in late June, when suddenly it was apparent that Jan had also totally lost her eye-sight, that had been fairly good to this point. At this point they are moving forward as though she will she will need to navigate this condition too. Neuro- Ophthalmologists have confirmed that the damage from the infection is not allowing the signals to get from her eyes to the brain. Vision may improve slightly over time, but most likely she will always have low vision at best. Jan has also had to relearn how to swallow, how to speak, how to manage body systems and movement. She is a fighter, and a believer. She is a lover of good health and exercise. This is serving her well, but never did anyone think this would be what life would deal!

Rob said to me in  text in late July,  "Life isn't always fair and Jan and I will play the hand that we've been dealt and make the best of it together." As you can imagine, part of what they are being dealt are incredible medical bills like most of us have never seen. Jan has been in a hospital and/or medical facility since day one in April. She cannot yet return home. If and when she does, rehabilitation will be a daily routine. I am asking each of you to take a moment and count your blessings, and then figure out what your budget will allow you to donate. ANY AMOUNT helps.

Jan and Rob say, "Thanks, and GOD BLESS!"
I say, thanks for your time and consideration. She is a very good friend of mine and to many of you reading this.  I know though that you don't need to have known her for this story to not have broken your heart.
Sincerely,
Paula Evans
