Support for catastrophic flood in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil)

The South of Brazil has been hit by a major flood recorded in history. It has rained the equivalent of 2 months in only 3 days. Heavy rains and winds destroyed major water gates leaving over 341 cities underwater (70% of the state).

Nearly 1 million people are severely affected, hundreds reported dead or missing and authorities fear that these numbers will keep rising.

These people lost everything - homes, cars, businesses, jobs, and most importantly family and friends. People have been forced to leave their places in boats and rush to temporary shelters in stadiums, clubs, churches, and schools carrying only documents - if they were quick enough to grab them. Unfortunately, several hundred are still in danger and to be rescued - many climbed onto roofs and are desperately trying rescue for more than 3 days.

Most roads and bridges are now destroyed making it impossible for people to get food, water, fuel and medications.

Due to not having electricity, water supply and sewage, many of us have loads of friends and family members who are unreachable, and everybody keeps fearing the worst. The basic water treatment has collapsed, and once the flood settles down, serious diseases will be a huge challenge.

We're thrilled to see the community helping as much as they can in shelters, bringing foods, clothes, rescuing people animals with boats / jet skis, hiring helicopters, but unfortunately this isn't enough - and it'll take years for the cities to be rebuilt.

We're raising funds to help charities and local communities to be rescued and have their lives back. We have different groups of charities and volunteers who are buying food, water, clothes, mattresses, fuel, medications and are supporting local communities physically and most importantly mentally.
