Dear Friends and Supporters,

I’m Lubna, a proud Canadian citizen originally from Gaza. Today, I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support my family to get out of Gaza and settle in Canada. Having immigrated to Canada as a skilled worker, I have made it my home over the past years.

Today, I face a critical challenge: my family in Gaza is in urgent need of assistance to move to the safety and stability of Canada.

I am currently a PhD candidate and research assistant at TMU, formerly known as Ryerson University.

The situation with my family in Gaza as follows:

• Displacement Under Fire: After October 7th, my family in Northern Gaza experienced a traumatic displacement amidst relentless fire, forced to flee without any belongings.

• Seeking Shelter in Gaza City: They have been displaced four times within Gaza City, mostly within Almaamadani and Alzaytoun neighborhoods, where they endured the tragic loss of more than 48 cousins from our extended family, witnessed right before their eyes, amidst horrifying bombings and killings.

• Seeking Shelter in the South: They were forced to leave the city, heading south, where they found themselves with no familiar faces or places to seek refuge. They rented an unlivable place due to the huge number of displaced Gazans, facing scarcity of available accommodations.

• Lack of Basic Necessities: The absence of basic necessities like food, water, electricity, and medications makes the situation worse.

• Healthcare System in Shambles: They struggle not only with the loss of their homes and livelihoods but also with critical health issues. My parents are diabetic, and my sister suffers from a brain disorder. They urgently need for specialized healthcare and medications that are unavailable in Gaza, especially after funding cuts to UNRWA.

• Education Disrupted: many schools have been turned into refugee camps, while others, along with universities, have been bombed out of existence. This catastrophic situation leaves the children's education in ruins, denying them of their fundamental right to learn.

My parents, sister, two brothers, and nine nieces and nephews are all witnessing the devastating war in Gaza. As their only hope, they rely on my support. They need urgent assistance to cover the significant costs associated with their journey, relocation, and initial resettlement in Canada.

On December 21st, Immigration Canadian Minister Marc Miller new temporary measures for extended family members of Canadians in Gaza, offering a glimmer of hope after Miller called the situation in Gaza 'unlivable'.

However, it's essential to note that these measures do not provide financial support for the relocation process, leaving the burden on families like mine.

Your generosity and support will enable us to reunite and protect my family, offering them the chance for a brighter, more secure future, away from the challenges of devastation and danger.

Despite utilizing all my resources and saving, I still require an additional 63,000 USD for my family's initial settlement in Canada, this will cover essential needs, including but not limited to:

• Border crossing expenses: to enable the passage of my family members from the Gaza Strip to Cairo, costing 5,000 USD for each person.

• Expenses during their temporary stay in Egypt until they receive the visa for Canada, including housing and living expenses.

• Visa application fees/TRP

• Passports issuance / renewal fees

• Flight tickets to Canada

• Health insurance and medications

• Initial settlement in Canada until they find job

Je suis Lubna, une fière citoyenne canadienne originaire de Gaza. Aujourd'hui, je m'adresse à vous avec une demande sincère de soutien à ma famille pour sortir de Gaza et s'installer au Canada. Ayant immigré au Canada en tant que travailleuse qualifiée, j'ai fait de ce pays mon foyer depuis plusieurs années.

Aujourd'hui, je fais face à un défi critique : ma famille à Gaza a besoin de toute urgence d'aide pour se rendre en sécurité et stabilité au Canada.
