Support for Donnie & his family

Donation protected
We awoke early Thursday a.m. to the news that our friend and colleague, Donnie Guthrie, had been taken from work to a hospital in Atlanta.  He was non responsive at the time, and it was soon discovered that he was in the medical fight of his life, having suffered a blood clot and stroke.

He had just started his new job at the Atlanta Martin-Brower less than a month ago.   I have personally known Donnie since he was a kid.  He rode my mom's school bus, and we were pretty much neighbors growing up.  Donnie later went to work at the same company my husband and I work at, and he and his family have just been a fixture for so many years in our lives.

Donnie had worked in TN for the last 20 years or so at MB.  He recently decided to take another position in the Transportation Field  and bravely moved to Louisiana for a brief period of time to further his career.  Just recently he took a position in Atlanta, GA back with Martin-Brower, the company where he had been for so many years and dedicated so much of his life.  He was so excited to be "home," returning to the company and people he knows and loves.

Donnie is currently in ICU as the team of Dr's closely monitor his condition.  He is surrounded by his loving wife, Melissa, his children and family members.  It is our understanding having suffered a number of small strokes in addition to a large clot that is affecting balance and causing stability issues,  Donnie will need continued medical treatment and an unknown amount of therapy to return to his old self.   If you know Donnie, you know he is just a great person, a hard worker, and an awesome husband and father.  He's one of the good guys and just infectious to be around.  He is passionate about his family and he is passionate about truck driving and serving others. This is a man we need to pray for and provide as much help to as humanly possible knowing how much help he has given to all of us throughout his life and career.

We have had so many people, co workers, etc. reach out to ask how they can help.  All that Donnie's family asks for is your prayers.  We are certainly committed to that as we are fervently praying!  However if we can help to give his family a little something less to worry about, it would be so heartwarming.

Because of Donnie's transition between jobs, this stroke has hit him at a terrible time. His insurance status is up in the air, and it is possible, he may be without medical insurance to help him and his family navigate through these difficult times. In addition, Donnie's family does not reside in Atlanta yet due to the transition between jobs and this is creating ever difficult hardships as one can imagine. Donnie and his family are part of our family and the greater family of Martin-Brower, and anyone that knows the MB family knows we are people that help take care of our own. Thank you so much for anything you are able to provide. God Bless to each and everyone of you as we work to help Donnie Guthrie survive and move beyond this temporary setback in his life.
