Support devastating essential hysterectomy

Donation protected

Kim has been suffering from Endometriosis for the past 14 years, diagnosed at the age of 19 years old. She has had 4 laparoscopic ablation surgeries. Six months ago, Kim was also diagnosed with Adenomyosis, which devastatingly, is irreversible. It was 6 months ago that Kim learnt the heart-breaking news, being that no other treatment would treat Adenomyosis, other than a hysterectomy.

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the womb (uterus), with or without the cervix.

Endometriosis is a whole-body disease, whereby the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside of the uterus. The disease causes wide-spread pain affecting Kim’s daily living abilities. Kim’s Endometriosis is widespread and classed stage 4, found in her pelvic side walls, Pouch of Douglas, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel and bladder. Endometriosis has no cure and can return at any time. Ablation surgeries are only an attempt to burn the surface layers of the disease.
The only way to successfully remove Endometriosis is by expert excision.
Kim has sourced an expert gold standard specialist who can finally perform the operation to the highest standard in the hope of a much better life.

Adenomyosis occurs when the glands that make up the lining of the uterus, begins to grow within the muscular wall of the uterus. Adenomyosis is known as Endometriosis’s evil twin sister and only further impacts on Kim’s chronic pain.

Kim has always longed to carry a baby herself, however having that choice removed from her has been completely heart wrenching. Unfortunately, the progression of both diseases has increased immensely in the past two years, often causing Kim to become bedridden for most days in the month. Therefore, requiring assistance from her partner (Emily) to assist in all care required. The diseases do mostly affect Kim personally, however, the impact of her restrictions also affects her partner a great deal. Kim and Em feel as if their life has been put on pause as Kim has lost her ability to engage in any of the activities they used to share.
On top of this, Kim has been living with debilitating mental health since the age of 13 years old. Living with these extremely and chronically debilitating diseases and 24/7 pain only further exacerbates Kim’s mental state.

Kim has worked within the healthcare industry, mostly specialising in complex mental health. She is the kind of person who always puts other people’s needs before her own and will do anything in her power to help those around her. This is why, as one of Kim’s best friends, I have chosen to create this fundraiser. In order to assist Kim through this extremely challenging time. Kim has always been reluctant to accept help from others, as she is a proud, strong and determined woman who has always stood on her own two feet, despite the constant hardship Kim experiences on a daily basis.

Kim has come to realise that her quality of life is what matters the most, and therefore has made the decision to go through with the operation. Kim pushes herself to the absolute limit by attempting to live a normal life and continue to work. However, this is becoming increasingly impossible and therefore Kim needs us, she needs support, she needs help, and she needs to finally get her life back.

***Update***

We are overwhelmed by the  support and generosity of everybody that has contributed so far!
We have increased our goal to hopefully cover some of the extra associated costs which are expected to total over $15,000. The estimated minimum cost for the specialist surgeon is $4,646.00 - $6,000.
Kims surgery date has been made official, she will go into hospital for her hysterectomy on the 24th of August.

Please find the time to place a donation of any kind into this fundraiser to continue to assist with Kim's surgery costs but also all the extra expenses associated with hospital stay and recovery, such as theatre fees, hospital bed,  Anaethesist, possible assistant surgeon and stand by specialist surgeons.
