Since the beginning of the year David was suffering from a bad cough. He was always struggling to sleep and lacked motivation and energy especially when it came to life outside of work.
He was being treated by several doctors throughout the months. One diagnosed him with a chest infection, another prescribed him nasal sprays for his sinuses. During this time his symptoms continued and his coughing attacks became more violent.
He was finally sent to have a chest scan where the doctors found irregular cells close to his lungs. Many tests and scans later, the medical professionals began to suspect that David may have cancer.
On Thursday May 2nd, their worst fears were confirmed and David was diagnosed with Stage III Hodgkins Lymphoma.
As of Friday May 10th, he's been undergoing an aggressive form of Chemotherapy to rid his body of the cancer. The treatment will continue for around 6 months at which point he will hopefully be given the all clear.
In an attempt to help a friend out, I'll be shaving my head along with David and donating my (very long) hair to “Hair with Heart” to make a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a long-term medical condition (https://www.variety.org.au/get-involved/hair-donation/). At the same time I am aiming to raise some money to assist David financially during this tough time as treatment is expensive and he will be too unwell to work for the majority of the time.
