Support David John Blucher after his accident

David has been a fixture at Stromlo MTB Park for well over 10 years, donating his time to photograph riders and make the shots freely available to the riders. Most of us that ride there regularly have amazing photos (often our profile pictures) that have been provided by David. He was always happy to have a chat and has been an integral part of the Canberra MTB community.

On 31st December 2022 whilst set up in a usual spot he was unfortunately hit by a MTBer at speed. This was a significant impact causing a range of serious injuries. This included broken ribs, collapsed lung and more importantly serious spinal injuries. He has already undergone a difficult 12 hour surgery and has been moved to Sydney for what is likely to be months of rehab and potentially further surgeries.

As you can imagine apart from the obvious effect on David this has placed a huge strain on his wife and son in dealing with this both emotionally and logistically. We do not at this stage know how well he will recover and how long it will take but David and his family have a difficult road ahead of them.

From the feedback we have received from the MTB community, everyone seems keen to show their support and help the family through this difficult time. David has never accepted any payment for his photos and the time he put into our sport. Now is a good time for the community to show how much he means to us and to contribute as much as we can to help cover some of the expenses that will be incurred through David's surgeries and rehab especially given he will be in Sydney.

All funds raised are going straight to his family for them to use however they need to get David through this time.
