On Monday, my best friend Charlie Sam—who is also a very good friend to so many in Syracuse—suffered a massive heart attack, the kind doctors call the Widowmaker. Charlie is a familiar face in the local art scene, recognized for his unique style and his company, Genuine Charlie Sam Products. He’s always been there for his friends and community, offering support and creativity wherever he goes. Now, he’s facing a difficult recovery and will be heading to the far north to be with his daughter as he heals.
This sudden health crisis has come at the worst possible time. The holiday season is when Charlie usually earns the bulk of his income, selling his art and merchandise to support himself through the winter. With his recovery taking priority, he won’t be able to participate in the events and opportunities that make this season so important for his livelihood. Many people in Syracuse know and love Charlie, and while some might prefer to buy his work, this fundraiser is a way for everyone to show their support directly.
Charlie is not someone who easily accepts charity, but he is deeply grateful for the care and encouragement from his community. Even a small donation will mean a great deal, helping to cover his living expenses while he recovers. Let’s come together to show Charlie how much he is valued and help him get back on his feet. Your support will make a real difference during this challenging time.
