Hello, my name is Bailey. My father, Brian Campbell was in a traumatic snowmobile accident on Friday February 20th around 9:30am. He came up to Maine for a boys weekend to go ice fishing. Brian went for a snowmobile ride and due to sun glare and ice he hit a snow drift he never saw coming. He did have a helmet on but it was not buckled, when he hit the drift he went over the handlebars and hit the ice once with the helmet and the second hit without it. He was unconscious in the field and was not responding. He was life flighted to Bangor, ME.
Brian fractured his C4 vertebrae in his neck, agitated an arterial vein, has two brain bleeds (one on each side), has chest contusions, and severely bruised hands, knees, and feet.
He has been in the ICU for the last three days and will likely be here for a while.
He has finally been extubated and breathing on his own. His pupils are equal and reactive, he has gained consciousness, and can follow commands. All great signs!
The traumatic brain injury will likely have severe impacts but only time will tell. Brian will have a very long road ahead of him for recovery. He will need occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, as well as various medical services and care. His time for recovery will be upwards from 6 months to a year.
We ask if you feel inclined in any way to please donate to the Campbell family to help with medical bills as Brian will be out of work for the foreseeable future.
Words can’t express our gratitude, love, and appreciation we feel for each and everyone one of you.
