My name is Mariana Barcellos. I am a Brazilian singer-songwriter, voice teacher, and choir leader based in New York's Hudson Valley.
For the past five years, I have led Boreal, an acoustic music project dedicated to sharing beloved Brazilian songs through live performances.
Together with a wonderful group of musicians (Gil Oliveira on drums, Timothy Hill on guitar, Steve Gorn on flutes, clarinet and saxophone, Gabriel Dresdale on cello, and Felipe Hostins on accordion), we have performed throughout the Hudson Valley, bringing this repertoire to audiences at Pearl Moon and the Colony in Woodstock, Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, Red Maple Vineyard, Rose Hill Farm and many private events and weddings.
We recently completed the recording of seven songs that have become central to our live performances:
A Felicidade; Chega de Saudade; É de Manhã; Meditação; Não Vou Pra Casa; Aquarela do Brasil; and Lamento do Morro.
The recordings are now entering the final stage of production. We are raising money to help cover mixing, studio time, and final production costs so that these songs can be released and shared beyond the concert setting.
We have already invested significantly in this project ourselves because we believe deeply in this music and in preserving these beautiful songs through our own interpretations.
Any contribution, large or small, will help us bring these recordings across the finish line.
Thank you for supporting independent music, Brazilian culture, and community-based artistic work. We are excited to share these recordings with you soon.
With gratitude,
Mariana Barcellos & Boreal
