Support Avery's Fight Against Medulloblastoma

Dear family and friends,

My sister Ashley and I are reaching out on behalf of our sister, Kylie and her husband Corey to help them and their 3 year old son, Avery.

Some of you may have already heard about the recent news of Avery's Medulloblastoma but for those who have not, here is their story below:

On Tuesday April 2nd Corey and Kylie's world got turned upside down. That's when an MRI on Avery revealed a large mass in the back of his brain. An emergent ambulance trip to Children's Hospital in LA culminated in an 10 hour emergency surgical procedure to remove a malignant Medulloblastoma. ("Medulloblastoma" is a cancerous brain tumor in the back of the head).

His road to recovery will be a long one. At the moment, he can barely talk, has a feeding tube, and has difficulties sitting upright by himself. They have been told that he will recover with time but will require continuous speech, occupational, and physical therapy sessions. For his Medulloblastoma, they have been told that he will need at least 6 months of intense chemotherapy since he is too young to have radiation.

These intense chemo sessions will require long term hospital stays. Unfortunately, pediatric chemo for him isn't an option in Santa Barbara so they will have to have it done in LA and likely need to live down there for the foreseeable future. While they do have medical insurance for Avery, it won't begin to cover all the astronomical expenses associated with this life altering ordeal.

We have decided to assist them by setting up this Go Fund Me page. Our hope is to ease the financial burden for Corey and Kylie and to make it easier to focus their energy on Avery during this extremely difficult time.

We plan to add updates on Avery as he progresses.
