Support Anne's Medical Education out of Gaza

Donation protected
My name is Anne, and I am an 18-year-old aspiring med student from Gaza. Last summer, I proudly graduated from high school with A+ mention and a perfect GPA (98%), filled with hope and excitement for the future. As a young woman, I felt blessed to have a family I loved and a community I cherished deeply.

Throughout my academic journey, I've always strived for excellence, earning top marks and straight A's. My dream has been to receive the best education possible to serve my community in Gaza, aspiring to become a medical doctor who can provide the care and compassion my people deserve. Doctors’ roles are very important during wars in my city .

However, the path to realizing my dreams has been fraught with challenges. Despite my dedication and hard work, the uncertainty of scholarship responses left me uncertain. But just as despair threatened to take hold, hope was brought back when I received the great news of my acceptance to Farahat Abas University in Stif State, Algeria, renowned as the top medical university in Algeria.

Yet, before I could fully embrace this opportunity, tragedy struck. The war-ravaged our homes, our communities, our universities and our lives. On Oct 10, just three days after the eruption of the war, I was injured in a targeted attack in my neighborhood’s house, leaving me unable to use my hand for days. Forced to flee our home in Al Nusayrat Camp to seek refuge in Deir Al Balah Camp, where we faced unimaginable hardship with no access to basic necessities like water, food, electricity, or even internet.

Before the war, my days were full of attending lectures, doing extracurricular activities, and volunteering. I found my passion attending classes at AMIDEAST where I was trained through a program called Access for two years to graduate with a strong foundation in English Language, American History & Culture. I always seek to be the best version of myself on everything.

As the war continues on.Suddenly, I find myself trapped in a cycle of despair, unable to pursue my education or help my people in their time of need. With over 70,000 wounded individuals in Gaza, the need for medical professionals is dire. I’m can’t volunteer at hospitals like medical students in 6th year or even a professional medical doctor. Yet I feel powerless to make a difference.

The opportunity to study medicine in Algeria is my last chance to continue my education since universities in Gaza have been completely destroyed, there is no more education in my city anymore. Also, the cost of evacuation from Gaza is exorbitant, and without your support, I fear I will lose the chance to enroll this year, closing the door on my dreams indefinitely. After +144 days filled with fear and struggle, I’m waiting for something to happen or change. My only hope lies in crossing the Rafah Egyptian border before it’s too late.

That’s why I’m turning to you, kind-hearted souls, to join me in this journey. Your generosity can help me overcome the barriers standing between me and my dream of becoming a medical doctor. Every donation brings me one step closer to fulfilling my purpose of serving my community and alleviating the suffering of those around me.

Your donation will help cover the unfortunately very high fees (USD 6,000 per +16 adult) of evacuating me across the border to Egypt. I am transferring the funds through my friend, Deema Hadad, in the Netherlands to a family friend in Egypt who will pay the Egyptian authorities through Hala Travel Company in Nasr City, Cairo to help me cross the border.

Thank you for your kindness and support.
