Support Angus to heal his 1 in a million cancer

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted souls,

If you are reading this, chances are you know my partner, Angus, in some way or another. Angus Greenhalgh (or as I affectionately call him, “The Goose”), some of you may know him as MC Cashback; the rapping chef, DJ, quizmaster, bingo caller, artist, and a mainstay in the Brighton entertainment scene.

I come to you with a heart heavy with worry, and an urgent plea for your support. Life has thrown us a curveball, and Angus has received a "one in a million" diagnosis of sacral chordoma, an incredibly rare bone cancer. The tumour is currently the size of a pear, and located in his sacrum, at the base of his spine. This diagnosis is life-changing.

The tumour is threatening to rob us of his vibrant spirit. This cancer is not treatable with chemotherapy, and the current methods of surgery in the UK would leave Angus with a changed quality of life that is incredibly hard to consider.
It's heart-breaking to watch Angus confront this new battle, jeopardising his ambitions of finishing his MA in fine art, of creating work that moves others, and maybe even one day down the line, accomplishing his dream of winning the Turner Prize, now overshadowed by the fear of the unknown. But amidst the uncertainty, our Goose remains steadfast, his spirit unyielding in the face of adversity.

Angus is not just the love of my life, but a beacon of creativity, resilience, and love. His kindness, humour, talent, support and non judgemental nature have won the hearts of everyone who meets him. He is the best person I know, and an all around silly goose.

I know Angus cannot face this alone. He urgently needs your support, your generosity, and your belief in him.
Your donation towards his treatment could help him continue living his life to its full potential, for many years to come.
Angus has always used his art to shine a light on the issues that matter most. Through his sound installations, he has tackled difficult and important subjects, such as food waste, eating disorders, politics, and more recently, the impact of AI on creativity and work. His music not only celebrates the simple joys of food but also reflects his personal journey with previous health challenges such as diabetes, using his talents to shed light on and bring humour to the struggles of living with this condition. Now it’s time for us to shine a light on him and show him how much he means to us.

We have explored various treatment options after talking to experts with the help of the Chordoma foundation. And have found a promising solution involving carbon ion therapy, a form of radiation, that is at the forefront of radiotherapy advances for Chordoma. Each Chordoma cancer is unique, and in Angus’ case, this form of Radiotherapy seems the best option, to hopefully allow him to live a long life with continued mobility and a much better quality of life then the surgical option allows. Unfortunately, Carbon ion therapy isn’t available in the UK, and it isn’t funded by the NHS. And whilst we have other forms of radiation therapy here, the experience of those treating Chordoma in the UK is limited.
As cancers go, Chordomas are highly recurrent. Because this type of therapy leaves an extremely significant amount of scar tissue in its wake, we may only get one shot at this and we need to do it as soon as possible.
Not only do we want the right radiation therapy for Angus, but we also want him to be treated by someone with a strong history of treating his type of cancer.

As a result, we are hoping to raise £60,000 to get him this treatment in Austria. This sum will cover the best treatment possible for Angus, with highly experienced doctors, as well as the cost to travel and receive it.
Once the money is raised, around £50,000 (with conversion to Euros) will be sent directly to Medaustron, the radiation therapy centre in Austria, to pay for treatment. The course of treatment lasts up to 10 weeks, and Angus will need to be in hospital daily. We have built in a contingency for any additional tests or treatments he might require, as he goes through the long process of recovery. As he will be unable to work, and he is going to be in non-residential, outpatient care, he will need the rest of the money to financially support himself in this period, when he is likely to be extremely physically and mentally drained, in an unfamiliar country. This includes travel, accommodation, food, and anything else that may be required while he’s there. I have been Angus’s partner for 5 years, and I have had, unfortunately, a long history of advocating for people I love that have been afflicted with cancer. During this difficult time, Angus does not want to be managing the financial administration of this situation, and so he has asked me to directly manage the money we raise from this fundraiser. I am very happy and willing to lift any piece of the burden I can from Angus.

I really truly believe that with the love and support that has been shown to Angus not only during this difficult time, but throughout his life, this goal is more than possible.

To Angus, my rock and my love, I promise to stand by your side, to laugh, to cry, and to be here alongside your healing journey, every step of the way.

And to our dear friends and family, I plead with you to join us, to show Angus that he is not alone, that together, we can rewrite this narrative of despair into a story of hope.

Please consider donating and sharing his story with your networks. Let's rally together, showing the world that even in the darkest of times, the light of love and support, and community can shine through.
Anything at all helps towards us hitting this target, every penny.
If you have ever requested a song at his decks, ever seen his murals, laughed while playing his quiz, had a lovely chat in the smoking area with him, or danced around to his instructions on how to make homemade burgers, please consider giving what you can.

We are incredibly grateful to anyone who can help.
Please also remember that if you want to donate a larger amount, gofundme does have a transaction fee attached. If you want to donate privately, We can still reflect the amount on the total goal on gofundme.

With deepest gratitude and love, Emma (And more then anyone, Angus) Xxx
