Support Alex Mitchell

After Alex's brain tumor surgery on May 23, 2017.

Alex had surgery to remove a brain tumor on May 23, 2017. The surgeon was only able to remove part of the tumor due to the location of it. This was Alex's sixth brain surgery. The doctors found his tumor when he was 2 years old and followed him closly over the years. This tumor has slowly changed how capable Alex could be. He slowly lost the use of his left arm due to tremors and spasms. His left leg was also beginning to affect him. 9 months of chemotherapy did not change his tumor at all. He had begun to use a wheelchair just before the surgery happened due to balance and endurance complications.

Following this surgery on May 23rd, Alex slowly recovered enough over 3 weeks to be moved to a children's rehab hospital where he needed to learn to walk and use his left arm again. He was only there 2 days when he had to be rushed back to SickKids, and went through 2 more brain surgeries to control hydrocephalus.

We need support for this young man. We dont know if he will walk again fully.  I do know that his mom needs help as Alex needs a lift system for his wheelchair, widening doors for his wheel chair and changes need to be made in the washroom.  It is just he and his mom and she has done everything she can for him for the past 12 years battling a brian tumor.  Alex is an amazing boy, never lost his sense of humor, he has such a kind heart and so loving.  Please help support Alex.  With little money coming in, bills to pay and living out of a hospital because his mom will not leave his side.  I would love to help them out.  He will have a long recovery, many months of physio therapy and we pray everyday he will be able to walk again.  We are praying for a miracle.

He is such a wonderful boy and his friends and family want to be able to give him the best.  We have opened this page to raise proceeds for Alex.  We want to make sure he has all the equipment he needs, wheelchairs, physio therapy equipment, ramps to assist him into his house and want to give me the future he deserves and would like to help him in his future, such as post secondary education.
