Support a Single Mom's College-Bound Daughter
Don protégé
Hey everyone.
I am a single mom of twins. One is in college, and the other is on the autism spectrum, and I am trying to work with him on what a future might look like for him. I have never been a recipient of child support, social security, or social services. For most of my children's lives, I have been a teacher in Buffalo, NY, and my salary was frozen for many years due to contract issues. Once the contract was settled, I had moved to Atlanta because my job was cut from the budget. However, the teachers who were still in the district were given their back pay. I was penalized and did not receive any back pay because I no longer worked in Buffalo Public Schools.
Well, my daughter just finished her freshman year of college and she earned a 4.0 both semesters. She is in a rigorous program as she will earn a combined Bachelor's/Master's to be a Physician Assistant. Unfortunately, I spent the majority of her childhood years paying off my student loans, so I really did not have a chance to put money aside for her college. This is what happens to first-generation college students (me) who have to pay back loans. My daughter has such a crazy interest rate on loans that she will be paying back more than twice the amount she borrowed her first year. I am hoping some kind souls will help her by donating to help pay her tuition.
My daughter has volunteered all of her 4 years of high school, and she volunteered during her freshman year of college at a local community center. She studies and is committed to excellence. Let's show her some love as she will eventually be working to improve the health of folks within various communities. Thank you in advance.
