Support a Preemie - Medical/Care

Donation protected
Donations will be used to support this preemie’s family with medical bills, travel costs and ongoing support.
Dorathea’s stay in the NICU lasted from early October 2018 to January 24, 2019. Born at 27weeks and 2 days, overcoming obstacles has been this sweet girl’s goal from the very beginning. Born via emergency c-section due to Mom having severe preeclampsia and placental insufficiency. Doctors predicted she would be born at 1lb 8 oz (680 grams) knowing that 500 grams is considered viable. Dorathea was born at 1 pound 0.9 oz which is only 480 grams. She had a grade 3 and a grade 4 brain bleed at birth and required a great deal of support for 2.5 months including blood transfusions, eye exams, ultrasounds, x-rays, and oxygen support. Dorathea graduated from the NICU at just shy of 4 months old weighing 6 pounds.
Today Dorathea is 8 months old (5 months corrected). Her brain bleeds are both considered stable for the time being. There is much care in the next few months for Dorathea including physical therapy, glasses for her eye muscle convergence insufficiency, a Cranial Helmet for plagiocephaly, and medication for reflux. Dorathea’s family is so thankful that she is off of her NG tube and is able to now eat through a bottle or breastfed.
Any small contribution goes a long way and is much appreciated by Dorathea and her family during this difficult time.
