Thank you for your interest in supporting A Brighter Community, a wonderful company that provides day services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. ABC is so special... they consider the people they serve total rock stars who deserve only the very best!
The ABC staff are exceptional people who put their heart and soul into everything they do. ABC provides a loving "home away from home" where participants receive person-centered services, including educational programming, skill development training, and meaningful community outings.
Over the 4th of July weekend, one male intruder hauled off three transit vans full of supplies, ransacked the building, and stole three vehicles used to transport ABC's beloved attendees. This man took brand new computers and other program supplies, he vandalized vehicles, and he tore apart the interior of their bus, rendering their newly installed wheelchair lift unusable. ABC recovered the vehicles and some of their items, but the expenses they have incurred because of this crime have been exorbitant. Additionally, ABC had to close their program for two days to sanitize and repair damages.
Already hindered by the COVID-19 situation, ABC is facing the need to replace stolen items and install a new security system. Being robbed and vandalized was the last thing they needed, and all they want to do is stay open so they can keep blessing people’s lives!
ABC retrieved images of the perpetrator and has supplied those to law enforcement.
The owners, Robin Sattel and Leah Martin, want to thank the Wheat Ridge Police officers who responded to the call and remained on site into the early morning hours processing the crime. The officers provided Gold Standard services and truly cared about the despicable nature of the crime that was committed.
