THE HISTORY

Since its founding in 2013, 100state  has served as a community and home for small business owners, problem-solvers, creatives, and entrepreneurs.   As a non-profit, we operate far beyond the scope of a traditional co-working space, fostering a place of community, and supporting small businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs through partnerships, resources, workshops, and events.

The idea for 100state was first born from a small group of entrepreneurs working out of a train car on West Washington Ave, right here in Madison, WI.  Our founders saw the need for a space where community members could come together to work, collaborate, and thrive.

And they weren’t wrong.  Since its inception, 100state has grown rapidly  - Connecting members to opportunities and challenges by hosting brainstorms, cultivating events to encourage networking and support, and providing an innovative and collaborative environment, as an integral player in Madison’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

THE PROBLEM

As a nonprofit, 100state relies on community support to help provide these resources and opportunities to our membership, which in turn support the greater-Madison community. This symbiotic relationship has been incredibly beneficial in growing both the 100state community and the small-business ecosystem throughout Madison.

As a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) this community support helps us to:

1.  Provide equitable access for entrepreneurship in Madison.

2.  Provide educational programming and resources for Madison-area entrepreneurs.

3.  Support local artists by providing studio space, artist in residency programs, screen printing services and gallery nights.

Over the past several months, 100state has been able to remain open, with new restrictions, diligently following all health and safety protocols to protect our membership and the greater community.  Unfortunately, with the pandemic continuing far longer than any of us hoped or anticipated we, like so many other small businesses, have been feeling the weight of COVID-19.   100state is running out of runway to meet our immediate expenses.  While we are exploring all financing options, including loans, sponsorships and grants, we are now humbly also asking for help from our community.

SUPPORT

We know that this is a difficult time for everyone, and that there are no shortage of individuals and institutions worthy of your support.  However, if you are in the position to help 100state at this time, there are three ways to do so:

3. SPREAD THE WORD - Share this campaign and talk us up to those who may be interested in supporting.

Any donation to this campaign will go directly towards keeping our lights on, our staff employed, and the mission of 100state alive.  Creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship is needed now, more than ever.  In the midst of these challenging and unprecedented times, 100state is committed to remaining a source of inspiration, support, and respite, for our membership and the greater Madison area through and far beyond the months to come.  As long as we are able, we will continue to operate as a home for problem solvers and community leaders to tackle the issues we face today, and will find tomorrow.

If you have been to 100state in the past, whether it be as a member, guest, or for an event, you know that it is something special.  There is an energy here, a drive, and a genuine feeling of connectedness, that makes 100state not just a place to work, but a place to come together, grow, and succeed.  It’s that support, loyalty, and ambassadorship from our community that has helped keep 100state alive, and build it into what it is today.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.  Thank you for believing in us and for being a part of this journey.
