Sullys Miracle Stem Cell Transplant

Donation protected
Hello my name is Sullivan Kendall and I’m almost 10 years old.  Many people know me as Sully, the survivor of a cardiopulmonary arrest when I was only 3 weeks of age.   I was born October 5, 2006 with no complications and a very healthy boy.  My loving family of 5 at the time, was so excited of my arrival and was eager to show me off to other members.  On October 29th, 2006, my family decided to go out for an adventure and on that day, our lives were forever changed.  The day started out like any other, as my twin sisters and big brother were getting their Halloween costumes on for trick or treating and my mom put me in a Superman Costume.  She tells me I will always be her Superman now and forever.  Please let me tell you why I’m her hero and the medical journey my family has been facing ever since.  I want to thank you all for reading about my family and pray to give hope to other families who also face medical challenges.

OCTOBER 29th, 2006
We all got in the car that cold crisp day and that’s when my life was forever changed.   Trick or treating was over, and I was getting all packed up to go meet my Great Grandma.  I was placed in my car seat and as we were all getting buckled in, it was noticed that blood was coming out of my nose and mouth.  I was quickly pulled from the car and my color was rapidly turning blue.  I stopped breathing and my family was in pure terror.  CPR was quickly started and I was rushed to the hospital that was only 2 blocks away.  My frightened Dad carried me in, but I was so tiny that the hospital personnel didn’t even see me at first.  All that came out of my dad’s terrified voice was “my baby, my baby!”  Quickly I was taken and my family was directed to another room with a feeling of confusion and shock.  No one knew what even happened or how long I lost oxygen, but between divine and medical intervention, I was revived.  The damage done to my brain was unknown, and I was quickly flown in the Flight For Life helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin while my 3 siblings waved goodbye, still in their Halloween costumes.

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

I resided in Children’s Hospital for 6 months with my Mom and Dad never leaving my side.  Doctors couldn’t explain why this happened to me, and my prognosis was guarded.  I lost many functions of my brain that controls swallow, gag reflex, cornea reflex, speech, and other areas yet to be determined.  I was sent home on hospice with a trach and a feeding tube and not expected to survive.  My family spent many hours making sure my airway stayed clear so I could breathe, and with the loss of my swallow, suctioning was a constant.  My family remained hopeful in the darkest times of the unknown.

Today 10/2/2016

Love in my family is everlasting, and we have expanded since I’ve been born to include my little sister Evelyn. She taught me how to walk and to ride a bike. She loves me dearly and is my biggest teacher, but the help from my younger sibling isn’t to end yet. My parents are making me a big brother, creating a family of eight! I cannot wait!

Reasoning For the Go Fund Me Page.

I’m happy to say I’m about to turn 10 years old with the love and support of my family and friends and despite all the challenges I still face, I will forever hold my Superman Status. I’ve made many gains thus far, and I have hope to keep moving forward.  My family is starting this Go Fund Me Page, because with ongoing medical advancements, my hope is to receive a Stem Cell Transplant from the Cord Blood of my expected biological brother.  Saving my baby brother’s cord blood is a once and a life time opportunity which could help me repair nerve cells to heal my injured brain.  Please help consider donating to my family and I to help me heal from this accident so I can have a better chance of an independent future life.
