Sundae's pancreatectomy & hospitalization

Early this morning (10/18) I noticed Sundae was looking bloated, and unable to get comfortable. She started vomiting small amounts of foamy yellow fluid frequently, and was lethargic. I called the vet and explained what was happening, and they had me bring her in right away. They examined her, and agreed there was something wrong. I dropped her off, and the vet said she'd call me after repeating her blood work and x-rays. I got a call after an hour, and the x-rays showed fluid in her stomach which initially they thought the stitches ripped and her stomach was leaking into her abdomen, and her labs came back abnormal. They got her into surgery immediately, and checked her entire GI tract for the source of the fluid, and discovered her pancreas was the source. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis, and a portion of her pancreas that had necrotic tissue was removed..and the abdomen was sterilized with a saline solution. The surgery went well with no complications, but the seriousness of the procedure left her in critical condition. The vet said they had done everything they could, and at this point it's just a waiting game to see how Sundae's body responds to the surgery. With how the pancreas functions, constantly effecting the metabolic levels--Sundae could be doing fine one minute, then shortly after have complications. They need to closely monitor her vitals, and the time she'll be hospitalized is unknown. I was told it could potentially be weeks hospitalized with the delicacy of the pancreas and the damage it undergone. They did also prepare me for the possibility of Sundae needing a 3rd surgery if her pancreas isn't functioning properly and the fluid buildup reoccurs. This is an incredibly stressful, and scary time, but Sundae is a fighter, and I'm maintaining a positive outlook. Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and continued support!
