Summit to Sea Relay to raise money for Grantown Primary School.
On Saturday 21st March 2020, we will be doing a SUMMIT TO SEA RELAY challenge from Cairngorm Mountain to Findhorn Beach to raise money for the Friends of Grantown Primary. This is to support Grantown Primary School to buy new classroom Smart Boards and other equipment.
As parents, we wanted to take the opportunity to fundraise to help our amazing school continue to offer enhanced classroom-based learning and could think of no better way of doing it than out in our stunning Highland surroundings.
Smart Boards are not part of the standard fixtures and fittings in a school and cost around £3000 each. They are interactive and environmentally friendly and allow for different types of learning.
We will be in teams of 2 parents per leg of the relay which are;
• Leg 1: Running from the summit of Cairngorm Mountain to the Top Station
• Leg 2: Skiing/snowboarding from the Top Station of Cairngorm Mountain down to the base of the funicular (running if there is no snow!)
• Leg 3: Running down to Loch Morlich
• Leg 4: Swimming along the length of Loch Morlich from Loch Morlich Watersports to the Sailing Club (ice permitting, or otherwise running around it, with original swimmers cutting a hole in the ice and getting in wearing just swimming costumes with the baton before handing to runners to depart)
• Leg 5: Cycling to Boat of Garten via Aviemore
• Leg 6: Running from Boat of Garten to Grantown Primary School along the Speyside Way
• Leg 7: Cycling the Dava Way to Forres
• Leg 8: Running to the sea at Findhorn Beach.
This will be around 50miles in unpredictable weather and definitely very cold water so any donations, however little or small, would be greatly appreciated!
